Description: In August 2010, the Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation presented Aunty Beatrice Kekahuna, lifelong resident of Honopou, Maui, with its 2010 Native Hawaiian Community Advocate Award.This award recognizes those in the Hawaiian community who have exhibited the bravery to step forward to stand up to current political and economic challenges to the preservation and maintenance of Hawaiian traditions and customs that are recognized by the Hawai`i Constitution as inherent rights of its native people.
