Before rain stopped play, Andre Russell struck twice in the second over, to remove Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks. Initially, SA captain Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bowl. Roston Chase top-scored for the co-hosts, smacking 52 runs off 42 balls, in what was apoor batting show by West Indies. Meanwhile, Tabraiz Shamsi struck thrice for SA, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Markram and Marco Jansen took a wicket each.
