Description: (From the programme note)nnLike Ennio Morricone, I believe that not all characters or situations have to be ‘assigned’ certain themes and leitmotifs. Following the Italian operatic tradition rather than the Wagnerian, Morricone wrote music that was “more songlike than recitative” with melodic phrases being repeated in a similar fashion to arias, choruses and recitatives. For Living History I felt it inappropriate to develop melodic phrases and gestures that would naturally function, to t
