The challenge was laying 412 kilometres of railway, constructing 51 new tunnels through 190 kilometres of undulating mountainside, and raising 104 bridges over South Korea’s numerous rivers. There was only one solution - more ambitious, more demanding and more risky than any engineering project ever undertaken in Korea - the Korea Train Express (KTX)
