Description: This musical treat, given to Paramparai Foundation by Shri T. Sankaran, is a historical recording (ca. 52 min.) of the Varnam Danike, performed by the ensemble of Smt.T. Balasaraswati (1918-1984) around end 1950-ies.nn“DANIKE….” was composed by Sivanandam (* 1808) one of the four brothers of the ‘Tanjore Quartet’ and testifies the Royal sophistication of Devadasi courtesan music and dance. The lead motif is Shringara – the mood of erotic romance; however, not directed at a god but to
