Description: 2nd Canadian Scientist Says, an Investigation Into a Mysterious Brain Illness , Was Shut Down.<br/>The latest senior federal scientist to step forward claims this unknown illness may have impacted 350 people <br/>in New Brunswick, 'The Guardian' reports.<br/>In 2021, health officials in the province said <br/>that 40 people were found to be suffering <br/>from an unknown neurological condition.<br/>One year later, a special committee determined <br/>that the patients had been misdiagnosed and <br/>were actually suffering from other illnesses.<br/>A leaked email by Professor Samuel Weiss, a neuroscientist <br/>with the Canadian federal agency that funds medical research, <br/>suggests the government curtailed further investigation. .<br/>In short order, the scientific <br/>effort was shut down at the <br/>request of the [federal and <br/>provincial] governments, Professor Samuel Weiss, scientific director of the Institute of Neuroscience, Mental Health and Addiction, via 'The Guardian'.<br/>I don’t think it is helpful to suggest <br/>or point to who or why – suffice to <br/>say that we were prepared to <br/>marshal both financial and human <br/>scientific resources to tackle the <br/>mystery, but they were declined, Professor Samuel Weiss, scientific director of the Institute of Neuroscience, Mental Health and Addiction, via 'The Guardian'.<br/>Weiss is the scientific director of the Institute of <br/>Neuroscience, Mental Health and Addiction at <br/>the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.<br/>He's also a member of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame <br/>for his neurogenesis research which has pioneered new <br/>treatments for a number of degenerative brain diseases.<br/>Earlier this month, another prominent federal scientist, <br/>Michael Coulthart, also alleged that he had been barred <br/>from further investigation into the unexplained illness
