Description: Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz has been dismissed from his role amid multiple lawsuits alleging discrimination. A police captain sued, alleging Diaz discriminated against women and people of color, while several female officers also filed a $5 million tort claim alleging harassment and sex discrimination. Harrell said the lawsuits had become a distraction for Diaz and the department. Diaz oversaw the department for four years and took over as acting chief in 2020 after his predecessor resigned following protests against police violence.
